    Description

Vintage Majolica Dog Humidor or Tobacco Jar
This cunning jar features a dog head with a pipe extending from the side of his mouth, a studded collar, and a “hat” with feathers that is the jar’s top.
(Inside the top is a sponge to assist with maintaining tobacco.)
It is believed to be a 1910’s piece.
It has a Rockingham/Bennington style mottled treacle drip glaze.
Just like a cherished grandparent, the piece does have some minor signs that it is aged.
Specifically, it appears a portion of the top’s feathers have snapped off (see photo #5) and there is a hole at the bottom of the interior that currently has tape across it which may or may not be intentional to air the tobacco (see photos #7 for interior and #8 for exterior.)
Overall, it is still an intriguing vintage artifact.
    Measures: 5 ¼ inches tall
5 ¼ inches across snout to back
