    History
    Gaston Braun,
    (b. 1845 - d. 1928),
is the son of the famous French photographer,
    Adolphe Braun
    (b. 1812 – d. 1877)  who was a famous French photographer, best known for his floral still life, Parisian street scenes, and grand Alpine landscapes.  Gaston Braun worked alongside of his father until his father's death.  Then started his own photography business with his father-in-law, Pierre-Louis Pierson.
The original painting, pastel on paper, was created by the famous German portrait painter,
    Johann Friedrich August Tischbein
    between
1785-1795.  The painting was lost and then discovered in the attic of the Mauritshuis in 1841.  The
original painting now hangs at the Nationale Knost-Gallery, The Hague.
(I have included only a picture of the original painting by Johann Friedrich August Tischbein of the Princess Louise to show the subject that was photographed by Gaston Braun.
It is not included in this listing).
