    Description

    This is an antique primitive cast iron trivet/lazy susan combination.   I can't tell whether this is dated 1866 or 1886.  The last number at least to my eyes is a 6 and the second number is an 8.  The third number does look much more like the 6 than the 8.   Imagine....this item may have been patented the year after the civil war ended !!!!   It has had one of the decorative loops broken off but if I were a potential 129 to 151 years old, I'd have some problems too !!!  The trivet measures 7" in diameter and 3/8" high.  It turns nice and smooth.   This is extremely rare as the casting design is delicate for cast iron....the decorative loops are only 1/8" thick....which means that many of these became broken and were probably thrown away.  This is still a wonderfully collectible primitive and would enhance anybody's collection.  Happy Collecting !!!
