According to a book put out by John Blaich and the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, the yacht in picture is "Vida" that was near the Arches from 1939-1942. "Vida" was 234 feet long and was a Clipper-bowed diesel yacht.
Apparently it had a saluting canon on deck and, when it was turned over to the Navy in WWII, the canon was donated to the Newport Harbor Yacht Club where it may still reside today near the flag pole.
