    Description

    Ludwig Wendell Hall Banjo Ukulele
This is an example of the prewar ukulele-banjo style and brand that is considered by most players one the best designed and one of the finest sounding of all resonator-back ukes. The Ludwig Wendell Hall banjo-uke has a mahogany resonator with sides.
The resonator is also bound and features intricate marquetry around the circumference
2/3rds of the way up from the cream edge binding. It has a 16-fret stained pearwood fingerboard with four mother of pearl dot inlays, plastic and wood "machine" tuners with black buttons, a yellow decal on the headstock stating the model. It is missing its flat original armrest, a right-angle tailpiece., as well as a metal flange with 15 oblong, uniform cut-outs. This banjo has been refurbished: 16 "top tension" style brackets the hardware replated in nickel and a nitrocellulose finish, and original head ‘cleaned’.
The original friction tuning pegs were replaced with a current market product.
The two-piece walnut neck features a chunky V profile at the nut that becomes rounder and deeper in the higher registers of the 16 fret neck, filling out to a deep U by fret 7. The ebony fretboard features pearl dot inlay and the original slender bar fret wire, which is in remarkable shape, showing only light, uniform wear on frets 1-4, and virtually no wear further up the neck. The nut measures 1 1/4" in width, and the scale length is a comfortable 14". The gold script "Wendell Hall Professional" text is intact on the face of the headstock. of this particular example.
The head has 16 points of adjustment for tightening and tuning purposes, and the 7 1/2" head is of significant age and likely original.
Comes with aftermarket case, clock key tension wrench, and shoulder strap.
