    Description

Once in a while I come across ultra-rare, special type items…This is one of those times.
This antique piece is an extremely rare Jennings Brothers turn of the century silver dipped cast metal tobacco humidor with figural golf affixed to the lid.
I defy you to find another like it.
This piece has a radical blueish-black silver patina all over it.
I took the pictures under bright lighting and outdoors to give you an appreciation for the coolness of the color.
This piece would certainly polish up if wanted, but personally I would change a thing.
This piece was manufactured by the Jennings Brothers Foundry company (See the company information below).
It is marked as JB 2764.
This is from the Jennings Bros. MFG CO. in Bridgeport Conn.
Overall, given its age, it is in remarkably good condition. There are a few superficial nicks and scratches, and the is a small dent in one spot on the side (see the pictures).
This thing is thick and heavy (weighing over 2 pounds), it is some type of cast metal, it could be brass given the color but most likely is white metal or pot metal.
The lid has a bronzed golfer figurine that appears to be braised to the top of the lid.
Underneath, it does have the humidifier holder and the ancient sponge humidifier, which I would assume is original given its obvious style and aging.
Please contact me if there are any further questions.
The Jennings Bros. MFG. Co. JB Copyrighted. The Jennings Brothers operated their foundry in Bridgeport Connecticut from 1891-1950s. They produced art metal pieces such as reproduction statues, bookends, and candlesticks. These pieces were not mass produced but required the work by expert artists and metal craftsman. The Jennings Brothers pieces are made of cast white metal or spelter, not bronze. Later the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company purchased the Jennings Brothers molds in the 1960's.
