    Description

This is a BEAUTIFUL and Big Bald Faced Hornet---a type of yellow jacket wasp--but not a yellow jacket Hive Embedded on a White Ash Branch.  The hive on the branch measures 14" long the hive itself measures 9-10" long and is 22" in circumference.  It was harvested, 10/12/20 from a tree that overhangs the river on our NE Wisconsin River property.  Hives don't come any fresher than this one and it's close to perfection--sturdy and well-built around and through a branch full of early leaves, now embedded into the hive for extra strength and durability from winds and predators.  The coloration of this hive is also lovely and unique.  It appears bluish grey, yellow and white striped throughout and it has some beautiful color variations on all sides and some of the nicest whorls we've ever seen on a natural hive.
Predators did arrive at some point this past week, just before harvest---to sample the larvae There is a predator hole near the hive bottom--the entire comb can now be viewed.  When you hold the hive up to the light you can look through and see it all--from entry hole to hive bottom. This hive offers one perfectly formed entry hole.  See photos for the best description.  Most any collector, teacher, cave, home decorator or medical user will likely be pleased with this lovely, freshly harvested bald faced hornet's hive--especially excellent
for students to learn about how they are built.  Will ship, via USPS Priority Mail, cheapest way, calculated to your zip code, in a large and well protected--ensuring safe delivery of this fragile hive.  Thanks for viewing and for your bid, best regards.
