    Stieglitz (1864-1946) was an American photographer and modern art promoter who was instrumental over his 50 year career in making photography an accepted art form.
    White (1871-1925) was an American photographer and a founding member of the photo secession movement. He was completely self taught in photography but soon was internationally known for his pictorial photography. He became friends with Stieglitz and helped advance the cause of photography as a true art form. They photographed a number of works together but ultimately fought and ended their friendship.
